Hurricane glass

A tall, curved, footed glass holding around 450ml, designed for long tropical drinks served over crushed ice. Its capacity is the point: tiki and blended drinks need room for ice, liquid and a substantial garnish.

What it's for: Serving large tropical and blended drinks over crushed ice.

Don't have one?

A large wine glass or any tall tumbler of similar capacity works.

Capacity matters more than shape here. A glass too small forces you to cut the ice, which is structural in these drinks rather than decorative.

Buying guidance

Check the volume rather than the look — many decorative versions hold less than they appear to.
