Coupe glass

A shallow, stemmed glass with a wide bowl, traditionally used for stirred or shaken cocktails served 'up' without ice.

What it's for: Serving cocktails up, chilled and without ice.

Don't have one?

Any small stemmed wine glass works well as a substitute.

A pre-chilled glass keeps the drink cold for longer without diluting it further, and the wide bowl affects how the aroma reaches the nose — but any reasonably-sized glass works in a pinch.

Buying guidance

Look for a glass with a sturdy stem and a bowl small enough to chill fully in the freezer.
