Bottle opener

A lever tool used to remove crown caps from beer, cider and some mixer bottles.

What it's for: Opening capped bottles — needed for any beer, cider or mixer-bottle-based cocktail.

Don't have one?

The edge of a sturdy spoon, a key, or the cap of another bottle can lever a cap off in a pinch.

No effect on the drink itself — purely about getting the bottle open safely.

Avoid anything that could slip suddenly under pressure — grip firmly and lever away from your hand and face.

Buying guidance

A solid, one-piece metal opener with a comfortable grip is less likely to slip than a thin novelty one.
